15th Annual May Ride Gives Back To Our Heroes

Big Jon & Clint August

Clint August may be known more for his on-air personality with 101 KGB radio but his work on behalf of our veterans has given him the notoriety of someone that cares and is willing to use his position to give back to a worthy cause. What started out 15 years ago as simply a desire to help our heroes has now grown into the annual “May Ride.”  Biggs Harley Davidson in San Marcos hosts the ride and is well known for their efforts to promote this event as well as supporting local artists.

There is nothing as powerful as when Americans put aside their differences and unite to support our land of the free and home of the brave. The men and woman, who put on a uniform and decide to fight to protect that concept, deserve our respect and unbiased support.

Riders and vendors started showing up early with the anticipation that what they were doing could make difference. The ride itself is between 35-50 miles and bikers can sign up for all or part of that route. With a volunteer staff and artists donating all proceeds to our heroes, you got the sense from all in attendance that they just wanted to help as a way of saying “THANK YOU”.  With two stages of live music, a car and bike show and over 80 vendors the event has grown from the inaugural event of one rider. There was large “Kids Zone” staffed to keep an eye on the little ones while allowing mom & dad to take advantage of sampling the food and shopping the assortment of items available from the vendors.

The after party is free for all in attendance and the artists included our very own Big Jon and Timmy D who opened the entertainment and got the crowd warmed up for TRINITY SULLIVAN, THE VISCIOUS PHISHES, LIES N ROSES & BIG TIME JUMPS. The music permeated the air and kept the crowd entertained throughout the day’s festivities.

We cannot think of an event more deserving of your support in future years. Clint, we salute you for building an event that we hope in our own small way, to promote and be a part of for years to come……….
