Shakra HighNoon Cover_500x1500Turn it up, rockers! It is the only way to listen to this newly released album from Swiss hard rock/metal band, Shakra!

By my second run though of this amazing album, I realized I didn’t have enough speaker power to fully appreciate it. Originally listening through earbuds at my office, coworkers could see my monitors shaking from me aggressively tapping out beats on my desk and attempting to only slightly head bang, an action to which I was not being successful. Simply said, the entire album is both energetic and addictive and being partial to the hard rocking days of the late 80s and 90’s, I was immediately in love! Each track was my favorite until I moved on to the next one and then that one became my favorite!

Shakra_P04Known for their performances at many heavy metal festivals worldwide, touring with melodic rock band Great White and English rockers, Uriah Heep, performing in support of the almighty Guns N Roses and Iron Maiden, they fill each track with traditional distorted guitars, heavy bass lines, strong, forceful driving vocals, and wonderful electric string solos so reminiscent of what I believe was the greatest era in music history, not to mention you will find yourself looking for that ubiquitous Bic lighter during the beautiful power ballad, “Life’s What You Need”! High Noon, released worldwide, on January 29, 2016, is Shakra’s twelfth contribution to the hard rock and metal world, including a live and “best of” album and features the return of Mark Fox, the hard hitting vocalist who had replaced original member, Peter Wiedmer, in 2003. Mark brought the band to height of their career through the nineties, only to leave the band in 2009. He returned as lead vocalist in 2014; they released the single “Hello” and “High Noon” in its entirely came to fruition in January 2016. Shakra is currently touring in Switzerland and Germany but if they ever decide to bring the Shakra experience to the west coast, you can guarantee, I’ll make the time and spend the money, to see them up close and personal!
