JOHN ANDERSON JOINS WEBSTER PUBLIC RELATIONS ROSTER‏

John AndersonWebster Public Relations is pleased to announce the addition of John Anderson to its’ roster for publicity representation. “John Anderson is one of the most distinctive stylists in the world of Country Music,” said Kirt Webster. “When you hear his voice, there’s no doubting who it is. Everyone on the Webster team is excited to spread the word about John Anderson’s historic past – as well as his shining future.”

Raised in Apopka, Florida, Anderson grew up enamored with a diverse group of influences – ranging from The Rolling Stones to Lefty Frizzell. Moving to Nashville at the age of 17, Anderson found himself working a variety of jobs to make ends meet – including working on the Grand Ole Opry – literally, as part of the crew that laid the roof atop the “New” Opry House in 1974.

At night, Anderson played the clubs, and word began to spread quickly about his traditional sound. In 1977, he was offered a recording contract with Warner Brothers – and broke onto the Top 40 of the charts the next year with “The Girl At The End Of The Bar.” By the end of the 1970s, hits like “Your Lying Blue Eyes” would help position Anderson for a jump into the fast lane.

He responded to that challenge, releasing some of the most critically and commercially respected music of his time. Songs like “1959” and the CMA-nominated “I’m Just An Old Chunk of Coal” kept his star steadily rising during the early 1980s. His 1983 single “Swingin” would be the song that transported the singer to the A-List.

The novelty tune rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Charts, and gave him an unlikely Pop hit – peaking at No. 43 on the Hot 100. “Swingin” netted Anderson the award for Single of the Year at the CMA Awards that fall, and also helped him take home the Horizon Award. Other huge hits during the 1980s included “Wild and Blue,” “Honky Tonk Crowd,” and “Black Sheep.”

2-Page Insert 2upAfter a couple of years away from the spotlight, Anderson inked a deal with BNA Records and returned to the scene in 1992 with the chart-topping “Straight Tequila Night,” which paved the way for such hits as “When It Comes To You,” “Mississippi Moon,” and “Money In The Bank.” Anderson has also had success as a songwriter – collaborating with artists such as John Rich and Josh Turner. It was with Rich that he scored his biggest success with another artist in 2009’s “Shuttin’ Detroit Down.” In his career, John Anderson has released twenty studio albums during his almost forty-year career, enjoying one platinum album and three additional gold discs. He has also enjoyed thirty-eight Top-40 singles, with six going all the way to the pinnacle. His latest disc is Goldmine, which was released in 2015 on his own Bayou Boys label. John Anderson continues to be in demand as a live performer, with a schedule full of dates well into the coming year.
