Light the Torch

When Light the Torch took the stage the audience started chanting “HOWARD, HOWARD, HOWARD” which is a reference to Light the Torch’s vocalist Howard Jones.  Howard is well known as the Ex lead singer of Killswitch Engage, which he was a part of from 2002-2011. He then joined Light the Torch in 2012 and has been with the band ever since.

Light the Torch has a great sound, in part because of Howard’s powerful vocals and the bands powerful drive. While listening to the lyrics of the songs, you immediately can tell that they were well thought out and had some deep meaning behind them. I personally liked the band and I am not a Metal Head, so that should say a lot about them. Howard is joined on stage by guitarist Francesco Artusato (All Shall Perish, Hiss of Atrocities), Bassist Ryan Wombacher (Bleeding Through) and Drummer Mike Sciulara (Extinction A.D., This is Hell) to bring the music to life.

Sometimes the sound production is not great for opening acts; however, tonight was an exception.  The sound woke up the masses and the night began with a huge bang. After the opening song Howard took a moment to engage the audience with some playful banter. The entire set was created to make you bang your head and throw your fist in the air.  It was a phenomenal set of music from a band that deserves your respect.  This band is the reason you go out on the weekends and see live music. “Howard, Howard, Howard”!
