Lindsey Stirling – A Sensory Overload of Grace, Style and Energy

San Diego music lovers, both young and…seasoned, were treated to a bewitching double headliner, that was spellbinding to the mind and senses! San Diego’s premiere large concert venue, Mattress Firm Amphitheater, played host to today’s hottest young virtuoso, Lindsey Stirling, and the mythical, magical, Amy Lee and Evanescence!  Lindsey Stirling kicked off the evening with her high-powered energy and mesmerizing stage production of music, dancing, a spectacular kaleidoscope of a light show and a her always inspiring message.

Hailing from, Gilbert, Arizona, the multi-talented, multi-labeled, multi award winning, Lindsey Stirling, is a young artist that has taken the internet and world by storm.  She started playing violin at the age of five, and over the years honed her flawless skills into a marriage of classical violin, electronica, rock, classical and modern dance and always a positive message of empowerment. A tempest on the first down beat, Miss Stirling is a force to reckon with!  A sensory overload of grace, style, energy, sound and light.  Surrounded by a full orchestra and backed by a group of uber-talented dancers, Lindsey is a surreal presence on stage; add the opulent, yet fun, and splashy lighting, background visuals and projections, there is no question as to why this firecracker sells out venues worldwide! Although not a formally trained dancer, her choreography is enchanting and seemingly effortless as she and her instrument become one.  With over 11M subscribers to her “You Tube” channel and over-the-top music videos, some numbering in over 200M views, she brings the same energy and creativity to the live stage, engaging her fans with a fine art mastered by few.

Lindsey may now be extremely successful in the mainstream music arena, she is still the quintessential indie artist.   She stays true to herself, her passions and convictions.  On stage, on camera and online, she shares her personal battles with adolescence and anorexia, struggles and triumphs with being and independent artist.  She keeps it raw, real and humble regardless of her success at becoming an international sensation. In a matter of 5 short years, Lindsey has released 4, full length albums, a live video, “Live from London” (2015), and countless singles, that have resulted in a multitude of honors and awards.  These singles and albums are a compilation of Lindsey’s original compositions and covers and collaborations of many (many) of the music industry’s movers and shakers. A list so long it truly boggles the mind how someone so young can even realistically accomplish so much in such a short amount of time.  She is a true testament to what perseverance and determination can achieve by staying focused, motivated and keeping your eye on the prize.

Lindsey Stirling released her first, self-titled, album in 2012.  The album was certified “Platinum” by the “Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)”.  It also features her acclaimed hit “Crystallize”, which, as of this writing, has reached over 204M views on You Tube, and earned Lindsey a 2014 “Billboard Music Award” nomination for “Top Dance/Electronica Album” If that wasn’t enough, Lindsey’s freshman album also reached #1 on the electronica/dance AND classical album charts. Quickly following was her second album, “Shatter Me”, featuring, “Halestorm’s”, very own, Lzzy Hale, in 2014.  And once again, the success was immediate and massive.  The album debuted on at #2 on Billboard’s “Top 200”, #2 on Billboard’s “Year End Dance Electronic Album Chart”, #1 on the “iTunes Album Chart”, 21 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s “Classical Album Chart”, was has been certified Gold by the RIAA and it took home the 2015 Billboard music award for “Top Dance/Electronica Album”. In 2016, “Brave Enough” was released, followed by her Christmas album, “Warmer in Winter” in 2017.  While I was unable to find current statistics, if her previous work is any indication, album three and four are also destined for greatness.

Beyond the scope of music, Forbes magazine included her in their prestigious list of “30 under 30” in 2015, and early in 2016, she released her autobiography, “The Only Pirate at the Party”, which hit #10 on the “New York Times Best Seller List” for January 31, 2016; and finally (nerd alert),  Lindsey teamed up with comic book illustrator, Darick Robertson (Marvel and DC Comics), and lent her likeness to the artist for the new comic book series, “Sparrow”.  A six-edition series, published by “Golden Books” and “Aspen Comics” that debuted in November of 2017.Lindsey and her troupe recently ended their American “Hi-Lo” tour with Evanescence.  It was a double header that hit it out of park on all levels.  What a treat it was to have Amy Lee on stage with Lindsey for a beautiful rendition of “Shatter Me” and in return we had the pleasure of seeing Lindsey on stage with Amy Lee as Lindsey accompanied Amy for an equally stunning version of the touring title song “Hi-Lo”.

On November 23, 2018, Lindsey embarks on her, 25 date, American “Warmer in Winter” tour for the holidays.  When Lindsey is in town is not just warmer…she is nothing but sunshine, energy and heat!
