“2CL Communications was quick to understand our need for an up-to-date, two–way digital radio system that would be used by security, front of house and maintenance”

Royal Albert Hall management is relying on Motorola Solutions radios to consistently deliver nightly performances featuring high-quality, clear and secure communications during eight weeks of sell out, loud and rousing concerts. The Proms at the Royal Albert Hall will be attended by more than 280,000 music fans.

“2CL Communications was quick to understand our need for an up-to-date, two–way digital radio system that would be used by security, front of house and maintenance,” says Tony Gale, facilities manager, Royal Albert Hall. “Its tailored service and Motorola Solutions products have been fantastic.”

Running from July to September, the Proms are a century-old summer series of daily classical music concerts, hosted by the Royal Albert Hall since 1941. Today it is the largest classical musical festival in the world.

“The Royal Albert Hall really appreciates how valuable radio communications are to ensure the safety of their customers at this prestigious venue,” says Graham Cole, sales manager, 2CL Communications. The Royal Albert Hall is using 122 digital portable MOTOTRBO radios to facilitate staff operations. The installed MOTOTRBO digital radios ensure there is no audio degradation in transmission, and through the application of “Intelligent Audio,” are able to enhance audibility. By monitoring background noise and automatically adjusting the speaker volume, the radio eliminates the need for continual adjustment by the user.

“When it comes to increasing a mobile work team’s operational efficiency, MOTOTRBO radios are the tool of choice for effortlessly connecting people, as well as improving efficiency, visitor services and safety,” said Phil Jefferson, country manager, Motorola Solutions UK. “We are as excited to see our radios perform in Royal Albert Hall as the audience is to see the performance of Rule Britannia on the last night of the Proms.”

The Royal Albert Hall has four MOTOTRBO DR 3000 repeaters installed with MOTORBO Capacity Plus software giving multiple operating channels throughout the 150-year-old landmark. The addition of “Capacity Plus,” a scalable, single-site digital trunking solution, ensures that the Royal Albert Hall is able to better control the allocation of channels for secure conversations. Security staff can simply select from a contact list, press the call button and talk with the knowledge that front of house or maintenance staff are unable to listen in.

To manage the demands of larger concerts, such as the Proms, Royal Albert Hall uses additional MOTOTRBO radios from 2CL Communications.
