The Darkness Arrives

The Darkness-0532

The Darkness arrived into San Diego for one of the few SoCal shows since they had formed the band and it was the fist chance I had to be able to catch up with them in a long while.  They came to packed crowd at The House of Blues on the second night of their US Tour.

They opened with one of my favorite songs, “Barbarian” and just put the hammer down from the very start. Of course they did all of their hits from back in the day including Mudslide, Friday Night, I Believe, Love Is Only A Feeling and many many more.

The Darkness-6413Justin Hawkins and, his brother Dan, still rule the stage with their campy style of glam rock just like the first time I saw them so many years ago. The band is rounded out by Frankie Poullain, and Rufus Tiger Taylor who were monstrous on their instruments as well.
The entire band looked like as if they were having a blast rocking the San Diego Crowd into a frenzy. I have always liked the fact that Justin Hawkins, who does all the singing while playing these stinging leads, fits so well in their music and just does so effortlessly.
Part of the mystique of The Darkness is the fact their videos were so well put together for the songs themselves. It shows when you see them in person how well the videos captured their live performances. I can tell you for a fact that this band has not lost a step since I last seen them. If you live back east, they will be performing shows in NYC, Boston, Buffalo, Baltimore and a few more. If you want to see and hear more news check out the bands website http://thedarkness.co.uk/.  Of course you can check them out on You Tube, Facebook etc. If your a fan of the glam bands from the eighties this band is a must see. I can assure you you won’t be disappointed with this bands performance and you can relive your youth from the MTV era.
The Darkness-6423Remember it’s all about the music.
