The Swansons

Comicon weekend in downtown San Diego is an explainable event. So many things to do, live events surrounding the downtown area and convention center district.  Meet and greets, celebrity signings, media panels, Red carpet with step and repeats.  Not to mention comic fans from every Edge of the known and unknown comic universe. Cosplay happening everywhere, the busy streets of the gas lamp district now over filled with flocks of bird scooters hauling convention goers from one venue to the next.  An event that would seem like white noise Lost between all the hustle and bustle was actually quite the opposite.  Walking north on fourth Street in downtown San Diego it is hard to miss the giant neon sign and marquis outlining the words House of Blues.  It was there I got to meet and interview the wonderful and talented duo known as the Swansons.  Joe and Angie Finley couldn’t have been nicer.  Both of them so excited to talk about their newest record “Country This.”        During their preshow interview I was able to talk with them candidly about their transition into country music as well as some of the amazing artists they been able to work with while recording in Nashville.  The obstacles and challenges they’ve had overcome in developing their new music and sound from the ground up have been “minimal” said Angie as they have developed an amazing team of people around them which has allowed them to explore with a little bit of wiggle room in the direction they wanted to go.

The couple performed beautifully on stage, every note saying was on key every bit of energy from head to toe on stage was being felt by everyone in the audience. With wonderful on stage chemistry and entertaining stories going with almost every song One could not help but have a smile on their face throughout the duration of their performance. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the duo had an actual wardrobe that matched. There was what seemed to be so much time and effort put into every part of the show and every part of there on stage aesthetic and presentation.  All and all the night was a huge success because I left that show entertained. And isn’t that the reason we go see live entertainment?
