Toto is an American rock band formed in 1977 in Van Nuys in Los Angeles, California. The band’s current lineup consists of Joseph Williams (lead vocals), David Paich (keyboards, vocals), Steve Porcaro (keyboards), Steve Lukather (guitars, vocals), David Hungate (bass) and Shannon Forrest (drums).
With the recent release of a new album, TOTO X1V, The band is embarking on a world tour. We caught up to them recently and as usual they did not disappoint. In the past, I had the opportunity to meet Toto before one of their shows but this was the first time I’ve seen them in a long time. The band came out from the beginning and just slayed it. Steve Lukather plays with such a huge passion. The likes of which I haven’t seen in a long time. David Paich played like a man possessed as he pounded his keyboard and sang. Steve Porcaro, David Hungate, Joseph Williams and Shannon Forest also played and sang in perfect pitch and musicianship. Joseph Williams vocals on Toto’s classics such as Rosanna, Rains in Africa and Hold the Line was just amazing as you would expect from such an iconic band. The level of musicianship in Toto has never been in question.
If you’re a fan of Toto’s, don’t miss this current tour as they travel with another iconic prog rock band, YES. I have to say, seeing Toto again not only brought back memories of a fun time in our society but reminded me of how gifted this band is. Toto still SLAYS IT!!!!!!
