On the first day of KAABOO the iconic Dave Mason from Traffic hit the stage to a mostly older audience that remembers this great artist from back in their day. Opening with songs like “ONLY YOU KNOW AND I KNOW” FOLLOWED UP BY “MR. FANTASY”, “LOW SPARK OF HIGH HEEL BOYS” and continued with hit after hit.. His style has long been a staple in my listening on a daily basis for 50 plus years.
Although I’ve seen Dave play several times over the years it is especially fitting that KAABOO had him opening on the first day considering his iconic status in the entertainment business. His guitar playing and songwriting skills have always been at the forefront of Traffic’s music as well as his own solo stuff. They just don’t have music or writers like this anymore so it was good for me all those years ago at the Whisky seeing Traffic for the first time and walking away thinking to myself what i had to do as a writer to get to that level. Fast forward 45 plus years later his music still resonates with me the same way it did that night at the Whisky 50 years later.
