Gods of Thunder

It seems more and more tribute bands are coming out of the shadows and into the headlines. As ticket prices and fee’s sore it is a viable option to hear some of your favorite music without taking out a 2nd mortgage.  Saturday Night at House of Blues in San Diego was no exception to just that very option.  Gods of Thunder (Kiss Tribute), A Cheaper Trick (Cheap Trick – DOH) both took to the stage, along with the evening opener, Aether X, although not a tribute band they threw in a few covers to keep the theme of the evening intact.
I couldn’t help but notice from the beginning of the evening to the end, the diversity in the crowd.  A lot if folks were all painted up like their favorite Kiss band member, that is always so fun to see. Beyond that, being a 21 and over show, it was just that.  The Millennials were representing, Gen X, in the House, as were The Baby Boomers, all brought together, under one roof  by timeless music created by these very bands.
Aether X – started off the night opening with Manic Depression (Jimmy Hendrix).  They hooked the crowd  right then and there, rocking the House and getting everyone ready to keep on rocking. The front man carried it well and the rhythm section was driving and tight song after song. The fluffers if you will, did their job.
Next up A Cheaper Trick, they played the part with triple neck guitar and all. They started of the night with California Man and continued with fan favorite after  favorite.  Now the now the crowd was super pumped to see what was in store with Gods of Thunder on deck.
Away we go – Gods of Thunder took to the stage dressed to kill.  They chose Detroit Rock City start the party, they sounded warned up and they were definitely ready to rock!  They lead with crowd participation and holding true to the legendary Kiss’s rock star signature moves, they had them down and the place went wild. The theme continued throughout their set.  They were super dialed in, sounded and looked amazing, the whole package right here.  If you are a Kiss fan and get the opportunity to see Gods of Thunder, just do it.  You will only have yourself to thank!
