Alice Cooper For President

alice-cooper-2336Alice Cooper took command of the stage at Harrah’s Casino and as usual put on a spectacular show.   The songs and theatrics where both top notch and Alice was at the top of his game.

The stage was covered by a curtain that displayed Alice’s trademark eye makeup. The house lights go down and the audience hears the voice of the late Vincent Price and the curtain falls as the band takes the stage to “The Black Widow” and then into “No More Mr. Nice Guy.” The stage was swarming with so many talented musicians including Tommy Henriksen, Ryan Roxie and Nita Strauss on guitar, Chuck Garric on bass and Glen Sobel on drums. It almost seemed like a night of the hits as the audience was hit with classics such as “I’m Eighteen”, “Billion Dollar Babies”, “Under my Wheels” and his 1989 hit “Poison.”

Alice’s set is refined for maximum visual impact, with songs like ”Cold Ethel”, “I Love the Dead”,  “Poison” and “School’s Out,” and many of your favorite classics such as “I’m Eighteen”, “No More Mr. Nice Guy”, “Only Women Bleed” and big production pieces like “Feed My Frankenstein” and “The Ballad of Dwight Fry” and a chance for his band to individually stand out while soloing on their own instruments in what might be one of the greatest rock songs you’ve never heard, “Halo of Flies.” I honestly can’t remember the last time that I was so entertained by a concert.  The songs and visuals flowed flawlessly together and keep you engaged till the very end.  The night had many great moments but the end of the evening was very special.  It came in a One, Two punch starting with an extended tribute to his fallen friends in the music industry, which included covers of (the Who’s)“Pinball Wizard,” (Motorheads)Ace of Spades” and an stellar version of (David Bowie’s) “Suffragette City.”

alice-cooper-2290Tonight the Fans got it all including the legendary beheading by the guillotine.  The show ended with “School’s Out” which included a bit of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” and was a complete party in itself. Seeing Alice Cooper in the middle of the stage, giant balloons full of confetti bouncing over the crowd with lights flashing and bubbles in the air, wielding a katana sword and waging a personal war on those balloons, you can’t help but think that he’s really enjoying himself.

And the final song which seems perfect for this being an election year was the song “Elected”. I don’t know about you but by the end of this amazing show, Alice Cooper has my Vote for President.
