DAMAGE INC / ENTER THE SANDMEN

According to AXSTV, Damage Inc. is one of the finest tribute bands in the world. Currently ranking number three in their world ranking. I had the great fortune of catching up with them recently and interviewing the Finest Metallica Tribute Band in the World. The interview with lead singer / rhythm guitarist Chris Knight and Drummer Tone DeCorte gave me a lot of insight as to why they picked Metallica to do a tribute to.

What I found during the interview was that a lot more goes into doing a tribute band than previously thought. First of all, the actual band METALLICA, has to sign off on everything that they perform. Then they need to get all the material dialed in from live shows and albums.

Then there’s the show and wardrobe. The clothes have to match certain criteria right down to the smallest details. I was truly impressed with the musicianship and the performance from the very first song. Not only was the music spot on but Chris Knight bears a strong resemblance to James Hetfield of Metallica. It doesn’t hurt that he sounds like him too………
I’m sure that with the talent infused within this band that they could play any type of music that they want to but they chose Metallica because like me, they are huge fans of the original band.

The leads of Chris Brightwell are epic and he has Kirk Hammett’s perfect tone. Bass Player Kevin Knight keeps the bottom right where it’s supposed to be just as Jason Newsted did.
