Madam X – MORC

Madam X - promoMADAM X – MORC 2016

On board this year’s MORC were 40 plus bands containing over 200 musicians including the original line up of Madam X.  I had a chance to sit down with a few members and get an update.

Being on the MORC is like being on tour with a bunch of bands. It’s the world’s largest tour bus complete with stages, restaurants , bars and hotel rooms known as cabins.

“The whole event is like a floating Disneyworld for adults with a rock fetish!”   —-  Chris ‘Godzilla’ Doliber

Madam X was formed by the classically trained Petrucci sisters in the early 80”s.  The original line up is reunited with Bret Kaiser Vocals, Maxine Petrucci, Guitar,  Chris’ Godzilla’ Doliber and on drums,  Roxy Petrucci. Roxy had double duty on the cruise drumming for both Madam X and Vixen and was taking a much need nap while the rest of us caught up.

This original line up formed in 1982 and released their debut album, We Reserve the Right on the Jet/CBS label.  The album released in 1984 contained the classic song “High in High School” which became a favorite MTV video.

The band never officially broke up, but when their manager and record label president Don Arden (yes Sharon Osborne’s  father) had several legal issues and they were unfortunately left high and dry.  Arden’s office went from housing Black Sabbath, ELO, Air Supply and Madam X to shut down.  The members of Madam X found themselves on hold and waiting. The days turned into weeks then months of the band being left hanging around doing nothing.  As a result, each member became involved with other projects.

Since then the band released a single song called “Another 80’s Rock Song” Roxy is the one who suggested to get together to do a new song.  She is still actively drumming for Vixen and still gets asked a lot about Madam X.  People still show up to Vixen signings with Madam X stuff all the time.

The band wrote and recorded “Another 80s Rock Song” and had an offer to perform at Sweden Rocks in 2014.  Since then they have written and recorded a new album which is currently being mixed by Michael Wagner.  “We have amazing material, everything sounds phenomenal.  Everything’s ready, we just have to put it in a bowl and mix it up and put it out there.”  Bret Kaiser.

Depending what you were doing in the 80’s you may or may not be familiar with them.  If you were part of the infamous rock scene in the 80’s you will remember Madam X as they were quite unforgettable. Either way, you will be hearing new music from them soon.
