Marty Friedman – Feeling The Music

The atmosphere at Brick by Brick was pretty chilled. People were just hanging out having their drinks waiting for the show to start. The club had a decent crowd for a Monday evening.

The event started with the opening bands “Night Shadow”, “The Fine Constant” and “Scale the Summit”. All three bands did a great job getting the crowd warmed up for “Marty Friedman”.

Before I talk more about the show I would like to tell you a little bit about Marty’s history. When he went to a “Kiss” concert at age 14 he knew that guitar playing was what he wanted to do. He pretty much self-taught himself how to play. From there it just went up hill for Marty.  Marty joined up with Jason Becker and they started Cacophony. He played with Jason in Cacophony for many Years before he went on and joined Megadeth.

The crowd cheered when Marty entered the stage. The second he played the first note the energy in the room went from standby to watch out. He’s got unbelievable guitar skills. He grabs your attention from the beginning and doesn’t let loose until the very end. It’s like he pulls you into his own magical spell. Watching him is incredible. It feels like Marty and his guitar become one. The crowd danced and cheered through his whole performance. I am still stunned on how fast he moves his fingers up and down the guitar neck. He doesn’t just play his instrument, he feels his music. I also must say the bass player, the other guitarist and drummer did an amazing job keeping up with Marty. Time just flew by watching him perform and I was not ready for the show to end but all good things have to end sooner or later. This was one of the absolute best events I have been to and if you see that Marty Friedman will be in your area, make sure you go and watch him.
