Resurrection Kings – Review

RESURRECTION KINGS COVERResurrection Kings

Resurrection Kings is the new self-titled album from guitarist Craig Goldy (Giuffria, Rough Cut, Dio), drummer Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath), vocalist Chas West (Foreigner, Lynch Mob, Jason Bonham) and bassist Sean McNabb (Lynch Mob, Dokken, Quiet Riot). As expected, result is melodic old school Rock n Roll with excellent production.

The Album starts with ‘Distant Prayer’, “Livin’ out Loud” and ‘Wash Away’ all of which pull you deeper into the Resurrection Kings world. First song to grab my attention was ‘Who do you Run to’; which had a very unmistakable Dokken like feel to it.  Most of the songs had an 80’s Whitesnake feel such has songs like ‘Never Say Goodbye’ providing a more commercial softer sound with very pleasing vocals. Then you get hit between the eyes with the very catchy riff driven ‘Path of Love’ which instantly makes you jump to attention. Then the song ‘Had enough’ keeps the momentum going.

You can hear the member’s previous bands influences throughout the album, which makes sense when you think about it.  The album continues with driving songs like “Don’t have to Fight no more” and ‘Silent Wonder’ both very catchy and ending with the very cool song ‘What you Take’ which featured some of my favorite guitar playing.

I enjoyed this album and think that most Rock Fans will find something to enjoy here.
