The Deslondes Release Limited Edition 7-in

The DeslondesThe Deslondes will release a limited edition 7-inch tomorrow, June 10, on New West Records as an indie retail exclusive for Record Store Day’s Americana Month. Produced byAndrija Tokic, the unique style of the record embraces the traditional, southern theme of Saturday night transgressions followed by Sunday morning reflection, with each day represented by a different track.
Previously, Rolling Stone Country premiered the Saturday night romper “Tres Grand Serpent” on Friday, June 3, praising, “Speedy swamp pop-style electric guitar riffs dance with Cajun fiddles and Riley Downing sets a scene of carousing and falling hard for a woman.” Read the rest of the piece and hear the song here: http://rol.st/1ZBfhV6.
The Deslondes will be joined this summer by Twain, aka Mat Davidson of Spirit Family Reunion and The Low Anthem, who is featured on”What Are They Doing In Heaven Today?.” Davidson will be sitting in on fiddle, pedal steel, and electric guitar in place of John James Tourville, as well as opening for the band’s summer tour dates. The New Orleans Advocate wrote that Davidson was a “major standout” after the group’s show at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in April commenting that he “injected the proceedings with weird, wobbly, almost psychedelic runs on the steel and hot guitar licks.” Full tour details below.
Last year ended with high praise for The Deslondes’ eponymous album, which was produced by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Benjamin Booker, Hurray for the Riff Raff). NPR Music named “Yum Yum” one of their “Favorite Songs of 2015” praising, “Deliciously twangy slide guitar sandwiched between a laid-back list of Southern comfort foods sung in a classic country four-part harmony. Mmm.” American Songwriter also proudly listed the band’s “standout” single “The Real Deal” in the #8 spot on their “Top 50 Songs of the Year,” as well as designating the album one of the “Top 50 Albums of 2015.” Additionally, Rolling Stone included the album in their “40 Best Country Albums of 2015,” asserting “…a distinctly Big Easy spin on country music…the kind of stuff you might expect to hear in a Wes Anderson movie – offbeat and from some unidentifiable point in time.” This impressive list goes on with similar year-end nods from Apple Music, Uncut, Magnet Magazine, Nashville Scene, the Americana Music Association, Offbeat Magazine, Gambit Weekly, and more.
Comprised of five songwriters – Sam Doores (vocals/guitar), Riley Downing (vocals/guitar), Dan Cutler (vocals/stand-up bass), Cameron Snyder (vocals/percussion) and John James Tourville (pedal steel/fiddle) – The Deslondes are a unique democratic collective where each musician contributes writing and arrangements and members take the lead at different times. The band endeavors to carry on the traveling troubadour tradition of their heroes Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley and John Prine and their music production and vocal arrangements are inspired by the rhythmic, high energy, and harmony-driven sounds of their other heroes, The Band and Allen Toussaint.
