We recently caught up with the two founding members of The Dolls, Isis Queen and Pyn Doll at Ramona Main Stage. We sat down and spoke in great detail about the band.  Having just played over 700 shows in the last 2.5 years, they talked about heading back to their roots in Greece where their from to do a few shows before the Christmas Holiday, see family and start writing for the new year.

We spoke about the new album that they wrote during the week after the Paris attacks.  Having recorded it the week after I spoke with them at the EAGLES OF DEATH METALS studio in Joshua Tree California. The inspiration for the record came from the awful killing of over a hundred people in Paris including my friend Nick Alexander.

The Barb Wire Dolls started life on the Island of Crete at the artist colony where Pyn and Isis decided to form the Dolls. Their goal, and inspiration came from the 70’s band the New York Dolls and other bands from the CBGB;s days.

The energy , and attitude of this band is so reminiscent of that time but with a new twist. Isis reminds me of a young Deborah Harry on steroids . She starts out from the beginning just kicking ass and keeps her pedal floored throughout the entire show. The interaction between her and her partner Pyn Doll, is evident from the start. I had been hearing a lot about this band for over a year before I was able to catch up with them and I was able to see them twice in a two weeks period. I found out what all the talk was about as soon as they hit the stage.

With several videos on You Tube and a huge presence on Social Media, they have crafted themselves a very nice career with a huge fan base. I asked them what was coming for 2016 and was told that they have two albums in the can already and are waiting to sign a new management deal before they release them.

You can hear the interview with me Isis and Pyn on a link below. Let me tell you if you get to see this great band live you will come away as I did, floored at how tight they are. The energy and stage presence of this band is captivating and thought provoking to say the least.

Barb Wire Dolls-2914The whole punk movement from the 70’s is in good hands with Barb Wire Dolls. I hope they come back to the states soon. You folks in Europe get ready for their assault next year as they will be touring extensively in 2016.

One of the things I came away with after the interview was how much they reminded me of my time in NYC during the 70’s scene that I was a part of . The attitude and energy during those times is alive again with this amazing band. I predict that The Barb Wire Dolls will be a huge success in the coming year. They won’t settle for anything less and you can believe that.

Check them out on You Tube and Social Media they are all over the place. If they come back to the states next year catch them live or else.
