Bulletboys – From Out of the Skies

Review of: From Out of the Sky

BulletBoys

1987 marks the year the Bulletboys entered the scene. They released their first record, Bulletboys, in 1988 and never looked back. The self-titled debut produced a number of hits, Hard as a Rock, Kissin Kitty, and the ever popular Smooth Up in Ya.

At the time they were categorized as a “Hair Metal” or a “Glam Band.” While the music is more hard rock, with some serious blues based influences, I refer to them as a hard rock band. Eight studio albums later with an additional live record their name, your ears will be overjoyed while taking a listen to their latest creation, number Nine, by way of the studio, From Out of the Sky, Bulletboys.

Over the years they may have had more than their share of lineup changes but you would almost not even give it a thought listening to the music they have put out through the years. They have pretty much been on tour or in the studio all these years.  Here’s my take on the newest record. It starts off driving and rock hard, and then hits a few mellow, balladish type songs but not quite. Than they throw in some punk/pop tunes, and funky bluesy electro tracks. It is an eclectic disc with a little something for everyone. It all works – enjoy it for yourself.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, From Out of the Sky.

First up – D-evil

I’m all in! They drive right from the beginning and don’t let up! “Living your Life” great message right there! Do it, or not, either way the days roll by! Do your thing! Awesome energetic way to bring on the entry.

From Out of the Sky

Same theme – get er done!  A rocking tune, you will want to hear over, and over, and over again. I say to you, just do it.

Hi-Fi Drive By

This one is more on the rock ballad, rock pop side along with Losing End Again I think y’all can relate.

Once Upon a Crime

Mellow, pretty song here.

PRAB

Starts out funky in the eletro-sort of way the you are hit with some rocking guitar licks and there ya go – asses shaking – super solid rocking tune, ” shaking what ya got” that is what you will find yourself doing about half way into this one.  Enjoy

Sucker Punch

Super cool intro grabs your attention right outta the gate and keeps it going all song long.

Switchblade Butterfly

They go a bit folky/indie here. I mentioned this is an eclectic record. Thinking this is not my thing, then again, I was listening to this one over and over again and found myself singing along, over and over again.  “Like” button check.

What You Don’t

Is the grand finally. A super big intro completely rocking through and through. Solid ending to a great record that will keep you coming back for more. Do it again and again. It’s what you are “hear” for. I know I am.

Keep it up Bulletboys – I cannot get enough.

They play in LA and Socal here and there and are currently making their way across the country and across a few others.  Check out their website for tour dates.
