Chevelle – Wreck the Halls

Convey

Tonight, was the first night of the KATT’S “Wreck the Halls” celebration, featuring Chevelle. Another evening of great entertainment was waiting for us at the Diamond Ballroom in OKC. The band originated from Grayslake, Illinois in 1995 and was formed and consist of three brothers; Pete Loeffler (lead vocals and guitar), Sam Loeffler (drums and percussion) and Joe Loeffler (bass and backing vocals).  Joe didn’t stay with the band and later on got replaced by Geno Lenardo until he was replaced by Pete and Sam’s brother- in- law Dean Bernardini. The band focuses on Alternative metal and rock, post-grunge, hard rock, and nu metal.

Opening up the show were the LA band Convey, who just released their new album “City of Skin and Bone” in November of this Year, and The Band Royale.  The Band Royale who was the first opener also consists of three brothers Joel, Nate and Zach Baumann.  Both opening bands did a great job and were well received at the Venue.

Chevelle

The crowd was charged and pumped up and you could feel the excitement and electricity in the air. When Chevelle took the stage the crowd went crazy. They came out hitting hard starting the set with “Young Wicked” and “The Clincher” and followed up with “Get Some” and “Take out the Gunman.”  The crowd was well heated up and in full party mode while Chevelle blazed through their songs carrying the crowd in their wake along the way.  A Chevelle show is a non- stop no-holds barred rock show and only slowed for Soundgarden’s  song “Black Hole Sun.”  I don’t believe there was one person not on their feet singing along; it actually gave me Goosebumps and was a brilliant performance of a brilliant song.  The band closed their set with “Still Running” and “I Get It”; and after doing an encore performing the songs “The Red”, “Comfortable Liar” and “Send the Pain Below” the crowd was drained.  I have seen Chevelle a few times and they are absolutely amazing live and have always been on my list of bands to see when they are in the area. Their energy and stage presence is incredible; they started the show on 10 and ended on 11.
