Goran Edman – Cry of Dawn

cry-of-dawn

Multi awarding winning vocalist, Goran Edman, released his self-titled debut album on September 23rd and melodic rock and AOR (album oriented rock) fans should rejoice!  Goran Edman, may not be a familiar artist for mainstream music fans, but if he keeps releasing albums such as this, it won’t take long before he is in every rock fan’s music library!  In fact, some ways, he probably aready is…

Scandinavian born, Goran Edman, vocal career spans over thirty years.  His talents grace over 50 albums.  He has an intensive list of world tours, production and writing credits and has worked with many heavy hitters in the rock industry.  His vocals can be found on records from Yngwie Malmsteen, Glory, Brazen Abbot, John Norum (Europe), Crossfade, among many others. His high powered, yet soulful vocals has made him a sought after session musician and earned him a resume that would make any musician green with envy.

Cry of Dawn is the quintessential AOR album filled with powerful, clear, crisp vocals, haunting backgrounds (Goran’s own voice), free flowing guitar riffs and some of the best keyboards I have heard all year.  For me, this is a road trip album.  A time where you hit the road, hit play, turn it up and listen completely uninterrupted from track one to track 11, and then hit “repeat”…repeatedly!

Beautifully written and produced songs by such AOR pros as Steve Newman, Daniel Palmquist and one of my personal favorites, Alessandro Del Vecchio, Cry of Dawn and Goran Edman, bring melodic rock back to life in a big way.  Goran Edman makes it all his own but, seasoned melodic rock fans will detect shades of Journey, Night Ranger, Firehouse, Sunstorm and so many others that make this album a complete joy.

As Melodic Rock magazine reports, and in his own words, Goran states, ‘It’s been a privilege to work with all  these  good songwriters within the genre of classic  AOR. ‘The conformity of the production has a good red line with a straight forward melodic flow as you would expect. It has been a true pleasure performing it. The recording of the album took place in Daniel Flores’ studio for the instrumental part while I did the vocals in my own studio. Personally I am grateful to be a part of this project and look forward to the fans listening to the album’.

This one’s a keeper, rockers!  Keep it in or office, your car, your home, on your laptop, desktop, tablet and spread the music!
