FEMALE POWER DUO, THE SPEAR SHAKERS, SUMMER TOUR!

‘Female Power Duo’  The Spear Shakers (guitarist/vocalist Kelly Richey; percussionist Sherri McGee) continue their 2019 Summer Tour with a local performance at “MackFest: A Celebration of Lonnie Mack”, taking place at the Blue Note Harrison, 9660 Dry Fork Rd., Saturday, July 20. Show Tiime: 3pm. Tickets are $20. Info: (513) 202-3570 or visit https://bluenoteharrison.com. Richey joins some of the region’s best blues artists to fete the late guitarist.

The Cincinnati-based duo has received high media praise since forming in 2018:

“The raw power, electrifying force and psychedelic sound of these two stars is certainly powerful. McGee’s blues-rock grooves lay a thundering foundation for Richey’s masterful guitar jams. They are badass musicians. It’s hardcore blues-rock on steroids, a blistering, in-your-face tour de force.”  ROCKANDBLUESMUSE

“2019 is shaping up to be a big year for The Spear Shakers…guitarist Kelly Richey and drummer Sherri McGee are one hell of a spirited rock duo, bringing some much-needed revelry and recklessness to blues rock.”         ROCKWIRED

“‘Something’s Going On’ is a blues-rock smoker from The Spear Shakers, featuring the incredible guitar licks of Kelly Richey and perfect drums by Sherri McGee. The perfect start to this ‘back to work’ day.”            LA MUSIC CRITIC

“Leaving It All Behind’ is a marvelous hard rock/blues-inspired piece of music…the video only captures a fraction of the power and is a mere example of the talent of these consummate performers.”                      INDIE PULSE MUSIC

Kelly Richey, dubbed “Queen of the Road Warriors” by WHAS-TV Channel 11 in Louisville, has twenty-five years of touring and sixteen albums on her lengthy resume, including a stint as lead guitarist on Stealin Horses, a popular Kentucky-based rock group once signed to Arista Records. Drummer Sherri McGee is an in-demand session musician who previously was a member of successful rock group Velvet Elvis on Enigma Records.

Richey was recently profiled on Blues Highway, whose Host, Garry Goldsmith, wrote, “Kelly Richey may be the hardest-working recording artist in the business. She has a natural Blues voice that she pairs with a Rock ‘n’ Roll soul.  With those two components firmly rooted in Americana, she has developed a unique style.  She has a sensibility about her approach to music, and prides herself in being independent in producing her work.  All of this together is a pleasurable listening experience that one can not get enough of. Can you tell I’m a fan?”
