“Be the Pedal”

Like the Tagline says “Be the Pedal,” this interface slips into your shoe and allows you to remotely control your rig via pressure and movement of your foot.

BackStage360 talked with John D’Amours, inventor of SoulPedal about his product:

Q: Your product is interesting; what are the guitarists using it for?

A: It’s an expression pedal. It’s a wah-wah pedal, volume control and then you do remote switching of a multi-effects processor.

Q: How long would it take for someone to learn to use this?

A: You can start out with just a kick Wah, then the switching comes. To use multi-switching…I’m still looking for that guy.

Q: How far away can you operate away from the receiver?

A: It’s 900 MHz so it can operate at least 100 feet. I’m Canadian so I don’t really do feet…(laughs)

This looks like a great tool for musicians to declutter the stage and comes with a PCAP and full midi support to customize the options.

3D Printed Guitar Picks

The tried-and-true guitar pick gets a reboot!

BackStage360 spoke with inventor Larry Hierholzer about how he improved what had been a tried-and-true accessory for the guitar:

Q: Since I have only seen flat guitar picks; what gave you the idea for these picks?

A: I started making Picks for myself to make it more interesting to play more often. It gradually evolved into 3D as I was working with different materials.

Q: How does a guitarist figure out what is the right design to give him or her the best experience?

A: I’ve learned that every artist has slightly different needs. At this point, we have 24 different picks and 8 designs with 3 different materials to try and meet the majority of their needs. We have a lot of information on our website and YouTube videos.

Q: What is it we wouldn’t know from your website that you’d like to tell people?

A: One of the goals as a pick company is to make the pick become a natural extension of the body. That’s something we can do through the use of contours and ergonomics in 3D that is not possible with flat picks.

A wild concept but one that provides less stress on the arm and wrist while playing-a true innovation!

Display Your Instrument in Any Room

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. BackStage360 talked to owner Murad Muri about his stylish wood products:

Q: What was the inspiration for the “HangWithMe” guitar hanger?

A: One day I thought this would be something that would help musicians play more if their guitar was hung up in plain sight rather than on a stand in another room. I contacted some friends and they designed it for me.

Q: The wood is beautiful, where is it milled?

A: Premium Quality Walnut sourced from forests in China.

Q: What are your other products?

A: We have an Oak Headphone stand “StandByMe” and an attachable Ukulele Stand “StillStanding”.

These simple designs are not only functional, but they are beautiful.
