Jon Campos and The Incurables

There are rising stars amid San Diego, and they go by the name of Jon Campos and The Incurables!

Born in 2015, Alternative rockers, Jon Campos and The Incurables, have been quietly making noise and creating a restrained squall for quite a while now. However, if their opening performance for British pop/power pop group, The Baby’s, is any indication, they are ready to release a full-blown tempest!

On September 6, 2019, JC and the Incurables, hit the stage at San Juan Capistrano’s well-known concert venue, The Coach House, as the supporting act for The Baby’s.  Between the ascending, Incurables, and the re-birth of The Baby’s in 2013, it made for a scorching night on stage as rising and thriving stars, usually do!

Although the six-time Global Music Award-winning ensemble that forms JC and the Incurables may be young, its integral parts are all seasoned players.  Each possessing impressive resumes, artistic playlists

A predominately, all original, alternative rock band, JC and The Incurables is fronted by founder, Jon Campos.  Jon brings his talent for songwriting to life, by way of a powerful physical presence and omnipotent vocals, and a commanding skill of rhythm guitar.

Taking the lead on guitar is Eric Horton.  As the founding member of San Diego’s heavy metal band, Seventrain, Eric and Jon have a long history of playing music together.  Several years before the formation of Jon Campos and the Incurables, Jon performed alongside Eric as the vocalist for Seventrain.

Mr. Energetic, young gun, bassist, Tyler Johnson, keeps the backbeat in motion and challenges the notion that all bass players just stand in one place looking like statues.  Tyler brings fresh onstage chemistry; consistently on the move, interacting with his fellow artists and never missing a beat.  And back on the riser, the master of the throne, Danny Wasson‘s charismatic presence and rhythmic perfection, brings it all together like the skillfully chosen ingredients of fine wine.

It was a packed room, at the Coach House, when the lights went up for JC’s nine-song set.  The 40-minute performance consisting of mostly original music with a cover tossed in just to keep the audience “Rockin’ in the Free World” until the lights went down.

Jon Campos and The Incurables were met with enthusiastic support from the audience!  During the set change over, the Coach House lobby was choked with new and seasoned fans; gathering here for a meet and greet and to take advantage of the Jon Campos and The Incurables merchandise available for purchase.

*Over the years, JC and the Incurables have performed as the opening set for several national touring acts, such as, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Saving Abel, Skid Row, Adelitas Way, Pat Travers, Jake Lee of Red Dragon Cartel, Ozzy and Badlands, and Richie Kotzen of Winery Dogs, and of course, The Baby’s.

Before the show, BackStage360 had the chance to sit down with The Incurables and chat on camera about what is coming up next for the band.  We can expect to find them out touring on a more regular basis.  There are plans to spend time in the studio recording more original material, and their recent podcast with Big Jon Gates of The Dusty Futon.

As a huge fan, I have seen Jon Campos play acoustically and plugged in throughout San Diego County. I have photographed performances at the brand new, House of Blues in Anaheim, California.  The BackStage360 team recently filmed a set, featuring their, just-released single, “Heavy Hitter” at The Holding Company in Ocean Beach, California.  It is always an honor to assist in promoting JC and The Incurables, in any manner possible.

There is no doubt, this is just the beginning of the road for these alt-rockers.  They come at ‘ya with four wheels off the ground and keep right on heading into the danger zone!
