KEEPING THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY FAIR SPIRIT ALIVE THIS SUMMER – VIRTUALLY

We know it’s “no fair!” there won’t be a San Diego County Fair this year. That’s why we want to lift the spirits of Fair lovers this summer with a variety of “virtual” Fair offerings.

It’s certainly not the Fair we’d planned on, but our online offerings include a stunning virtual Photography Show, a colorful online Out at the Fair celebration, a virtual Jr. Livestock Show and Auction and a Student Preview slideshow celebrating a variety of student work. Fair lovers can order some Fair flair in our online Gift Shop and enjoy a Fair Food Fix at Roxy’s, Copper Kettle, California Corn Dog Company and Snax Shack Funnel Cake and Ice Cream at the Fairgrounds on Fridays & Saturdays in June. Additional vendors may be added as health department permitting allows.

Keep the Fair spirit alive with these fun activities you’ll find highlighted on sdfair.com!

Virtual Photography: Take a sneak peek at these eye-popping pictures! Our Virtual Photography Show highlights a variety of picture-perfect entries that will roll over into next year’s photography show competition.

Virtual Out at the Fair: Let’s unite with Pride – Out at the Fair has gone virtual, and it’s more vibrant than ever with dozens of performers including: American Idol’s David Hernandez, ‘80s sensation Debbie Gibson, #1 Billboard artist Debby Holiday, and many more! Check out the virtual show at 1 p.m. June 6.

Virtual Jr. Livestock Show and Sale: 4H and FFA kids and their prized goats, steers, lambs and hogs are the stars of this eBay-style auction beginning at 9 a.m. June 26-27! We know these kids work hard all year long to raise their animals, so we found a creative way for them to show and auction this year.

Get Growing from Home: Get out your green thumb and learn how to grow your very own green onions and celery with one of our famous Fair personalities – Nancy from the Wild West Turkey Stampede & Oasis Camel Dairy.

Color, Learn and Play: Our Activity Book is filled with fun puzzles, coloring activities and brain teasers for children in grades K-3.

Virtual Student Preview (available June 11): Ever since we announced the Fair’s postponement to 2021, teachers have reached out to us requesting that we highlight their students’ best work this year. Check out these rising stars in our Student Showcase!

Fair Food Fix: We know you’ve been dreaming of tasty Fair food … All. Year. Long. Get your Fair flavors on by visiting Roxy’s (we give their falafel burger five stars!), Copper Kettle (hooray for kettle corn!), California Corn Dog Company (dip to your heart’s delight!) and Snax Shack Funnel Cake (all that powdered-sugary-doughy-goodness!). Vendors are open for takeout from noon-6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in June. Enter at the Solana Gate. Here’s the menu!

Wear the Fair: Show off some Fair flair with a visit to our online Gift Shop full of Fair-tastic merchandise. Let’s keep the ‘Heroes, Unite!” theme going strong until next year’s Fair!

Remember to help save YOUR Fairgrounds

Be a hero and help save the Del Mar Fairgrounds: If you don’t want to lose the beloved San Diego County Fair and the Del Mar Fairgrounds, it’s time to speak up. Reach out to your elected officials to alert them of the Fairgrounds’ immediate emergency funding needs. Without help, this historic landmark could face potential closure, leaving a lasting community void in our region.

Until it is safe to host events again, the Del Mar Fairgrounds does not have the ability to create the necessary revenue it needs to survive. Community support is crucial during this challenging time in order to preserve the Fairgrounds for future generations. Go to saveyourfairgrounds.com to show your support.

Other offerings at the Del Mar Fairgrounds:

Lasting memories: Etch your memories in stone with a customized engraved brick, installed around the Plaza de Mexico fountain at the Fairgrounds. Proceeds benefit our Don Diego Scholarship Foundation.
