Motionless in White Reincarnate

Twiztid

They say Sunday is the day of Rest…  Hmmmm, I will have to think about that because I am currently on my way to see Motionless in White at the Diamond Ballroom and I don’t think anyone will be resting.  This is the “Trick ‘r Treat Tour” and I am expecting a crazy show.  Opening bands tonight are Twiztid, After the Burial and We came as Romans.  Twiztid is an American Hip Hop Duo from Detroit, Michigan that was formed in 1997 and is composed of Jamie Spaniolo and Paul Methric, who perform under the respective personas of Jamie Madrox and Monoxide.  The duo took control of the stage until the very end of their set.  The audience was thumping and moving to the beats that were pushing out of the PA.  I guess the band used sampled tracks but had a live Drummer which helped you feel the groove of the tunes.  First song vocals reminded me of the vocals in the song “Gangsta’s Paradise” with some overtones of Eminem’s tone.  I don’t know much about Hip Hop but it was a very entertaining set and the crowd appeared to agree. Next up was the band After the Burial, which is an American Progressive Metalcore band from Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The music really grabbed my attention; it was metal but

with some very cool heavy melodies played on the guitar that sounded very electronic in nature.  With Dan Carle on Drums and Adrian Oropeza on Bass they held down the grooves of the songs because of how tight the two musicians where together and it complemented the guitar playing of Trent Hafdahl and Anthony Notarmaso’s lead vocals.  They band maintained all of our attention and held it throughout the set.  Up next was the band We came as Romans (abbreviated as WCAR) which is an American Metalcore band from Troy, Michigan.  The band was formed in 2005 and currently features David Puckett on Drums, Andy Glass on Bass / backing vocals, Lou Cotton on Rhythm guitar, Joshua Moore on Lead guitar / backing vocals and Dave Stephens on clean and unclean vocals.  Just like other bands from this genre the music featured heavy beats that put the crowd in a constant steady rhythm and head bang.

Finally the stage cleared revealing lots of Pumpkins and Skeletons adorning the stage.  Looks like a Halloween show and when the band took stage, it was on!  Motionless in White (often abbreviated MIW) is an American band labeled by many genres: Metalcore, Gothic metal, Industrial metal, Alternative metal and Nu metal.  They are from Scranton, Pennsylvania and were formed in 2005.  No matter how you label them, they were very entertaining to watch and listen too.  The music was consistently pulling you into its intoxicating lure which you could see when looking at the crowd’s reaction to the show. The band features Chris “Motionless” Cerulli on Lead vocals, Ryan Sitkowski on Lead guitar, Ricky “Horror” Olson on Rhythm guitar / backing vocals, Justin Morrow on Bass / backing vocals and Vinny Mauro on Drums. The band seemed to pulverize everything is its path starting the night with the song “Undead Ahead 2:  The Tale of the Midnight Ride” from the 2019 album Disguise which featured a creature prancing around the stage that looked like a Giant Pumpkin Head, once again very entertaining!  Next was the song “Reincarnate” from the 2014 album of the same name; I loved the energy the songs put out and the total vibe and feel of the music.  The band continued ripping thru songs with “Necessary Evil” from the 2017 release Graveyard Shift to a newer song from 2019’s album called Disguise with the song “Disguise.” The night was fun and the band entertained the masses in attendance with more great music.  Most of Motionless in Whites songs lyrically were interesting and the stories behind them intriguing.  They played songs from a variety of their albums including “Abigail”, “Broadcasting from Beyond the Grave Death Inc.”, “Voices” and many others. The band played a Masterful set that was as heavy as it was entertaining and it appeared that Motionless in White was playing at the top of their form.
