Sebastian Bach’s 30th Anniversary Tour

Kobra and the Lotus

Tonight was a special night at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City. We were taken back in time by Sebastian Bach and his 30th Anniversary Tour performing the first record “Skid Row” in its entirety. We all know the Canadian singer-songwriter as the front man of Skid Row from 1987 till 1996 when he made his name in the Rock family. After this he played on Broadway, made appearances in movies and television, was the voice of prince Triton in the Spongebob Squarepants cartoon and besides playing with other bands, he created his own band.

The audience was charged up and ready for the travel back in time but first it started out with a local Band from Moore Oklahoma called “The Dead Aces”. Their performance consisted of cover songs which included some of my favorites like the song from the Rockstar movie soundtrack “We All Die Young”and “Round And Round” by RATT. These guys were a blast and I hope to see them again in the near future. I can say job well done Dusty Rose (lead vocals), Billy Bogges (guitar), Justin Shipley (guitar), Jay Melchor (bass) and Marco Ramsey (drums). It was great to look around and see a full house. But what else do we really expect with Sebastian Bach known as the pretty blond with the angel face from the 80’s. Even though we all were getting a little impatient for Sebastian to show, we still had one more opening band to go.

The lights turned off, the music started to play as the band members made their appearances and right away started with a fired up, high energy song “Burn”.  “Kobra And The Lotus” is a Canadian Metal band which was formed in 2008. It consists of Kobra Paige (vocals ), Jasio Kulakowski ( guitar ), Ronny Gutierrez ( guitar ), Brad Kennedy ( bass ) and Marcus Lee ( drums ).  Besides being nominated for “Best New Band” at the Metal Hammer “Golden Gods”in 2012 they also hit the Billboard Top 40 with the “Light Me Up” track with over 20 million streams and of course this was another one of their songs performed tonight. The band also has been nominated for “Metal/Hard Album of the Year” at the 2019 Juno Award and the best about this is that this was the very first time a female rock artist has been nominated for this category.  Their 6th full length studio album “Evolution” has just been released this fall, so make sure you check it out.  I can’t wait to see what treat we are in for. The show was a full on success with the crowd and what a great song to end the show “Get The F**k Out Of Here”

Sebastian Bach

Finally the moment had come for a show full of “Skid Row” songs performed by “Sebastian Bach”. Let the time travel begin with two big screens in the background displaying images and video footage of the young Sebastian in the late 80’s and early to mid-90’s. The crowd went nuts and was excited when the legendary rock star began his show with “Tornado”, followed by “Forever” and “Big Guns”.

Almost all the songs played tonight were off the self-titled “Skid Row” album which was released in 1989. He continued with “Sweet Little Sister”, “Can’t Stand the Heartache” and one of my personal favorites “Piece of Me”.  All of his fans in the Diamond Ballroom sang on top of their lungs when the song “18 And Life” played. It was such a great evening being launched back in the past and having all those great memories in our minds while Sebastian sang his hits on stage. He didn’t just know how to make the women crazy in his younger days, he still has that ability 30 Years later. Next on the list were “Rattlesnake Shake”, Youth Gone Wild”, “Here I Am”, “Makin’ A Mess” and another one of my very personal favorites “I Remember You”. Sebastian kept on rocking with his band and he really delivered tonight. Before we all knew it, we already were at the end of the show which he had chosen “Monkey Business” for his encore. The monkeys in the house wanted to do business with Sebastian Bach and let me tell you……HE TOOK CARE OF BUSINESS!!!
