Emerge – A New Horizon

Hard and heavy; A New Horizon rocks nu metal to excite hardcore fans and delivers the melodic hard rock goods for FM Radio.

Words that come to mind after listening to this LP: Masculine/Aggressive/Angry/Emotional.

Of the albums 12 songs, most bring it hard with deep jarring metal beats that will fire up any fan of hard rock. Themes of the songs include: Bad love, leaving, staying, trying to make it better and of course anger at how things are.

The album opens with the aggressive up-tempo song “Watch Me Bleed”. On “Watch Me Bleed,” Jared Jones sings: “In the beginning everything was perfect so it seemed to be, now what’s left is nothing but misery” This is a fitting introduction for what to expect from this album.

On song 3 “Keep This Alive” Jared Sings, “No matter how hard we try there’s no reason to keep this alive”. The emotion in Jones’ voice was so real and believable it led me down a path of reflection of my own life and past.

Song 4 “What You Want It To Be” is the second single dropped prior to the album’s release into the wild. “What You Want It To Be” is a positive tune with Jones vocalizing,” Those days are gone and the rest of our days are what we’re fighting for”.  On “What You Want It To Be,” the band is fighting for the relationship instead of lamenting at leaving. The song is very “pretty” and sure to be an FM radio hit.

Track 6 “End of The Line” opens with some of the most beautiful acoustic guitar work I’ve heard recently. This is another beautiful ballad. The song rolls in slow but delivers some great rock later. And the ending… well you’ll just have to listen for yourselves.

Late in the track list, Emerge builds to a harder edge with tracks 9, 11 and 12 containing the familiar angry growl. Track 12 “Bitter” might be the angriest of all with Jones screaming “You can’t turn Water Into wine and your bitter point of view isn’t better than mine. For fans of harder rock this is the payoff and worth waiting for.

I don’t know what happened and to who, but this album reads like a set of bad breakup texts.

When I fished listening to this album, I wanted to send the band a bottle of whiskey to drown their sorrows.

I enjoyed every track. This is a fantastic rock album!

Emerge is a Chattanooga, Tennessee based band comprised of brothers Jared (vocals, guitar), and Jeff Jones (drums) alongside Coty Green (guitar).
