Fit For A King

It was another great mosh pit night at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City. The bands tonight were on top of their game and they knew how to fire up the crowd. The band everybody was waiting for to perform tonight was Fit For A King.

Fit For A King is a band that originated in Dallas Texas. They started out and released two EP’s followed by one album called Descendants as an independent band, but then signed with Solid State Records where they released four more albums. The band members are Ryan Kirby – vocals, Bobby Lynge – guitar and backing vocals, Ryan O’Leary – vocals and Jared Easterling – Drums. The band has great stage presents and they are a lot of fun to watch.

Since I got a late notice that I was approved to review the show, I missed a couple of the opening bands. The band Currents was just setting up and getting everything ready for their performance as I walked into the Diamond Ballroom. Looking around I noticed that there was a pretty good crowd for a Wednesday night and a lot of people probably had to go to work the next Day. Currents are a band from Connecticut and they are an American Metalcore band. Next on stage was Norma Jean which is also an American metalcore band and they are from Douglasville, Georgia. Norma Jean has a new record that is being released on October 25th of this Year. Make sure you mark the date and go online and purchase one of the records. Both bands did an outstanding job getting the crowd warmed up and ready for Fit For A King to make their appearance on stage. The band members entered the stage and as soon as they started the crowd went nuts. There was instant energy that was unbelievable and the people in the mosh pit went wild. I love watching the mosh pit and I wish I was brave enough to jump in the middle of it. I love going to events with metalcore bands where the vocalist knows how to sing clean and unclean vocals. It’s like being on a roller coaster. First they growl and sing aggressive and then there is the softer part that brings you down, followed by an aggressive part that heats you right back up again. Another thing I must say is that of all the Years I have been doing shows I have never seen anybody jump as high as both of the guitar players of this band and they did it in unison together. It was insane how those guys could jump. Hopefully one of the pictures with this article shows the height of the jumps. It literally kept me standing there waiting for them to jump again. Based on the crowd’s reaction I could see that they absolutely loved the show and I did too. Everybody was well entertained and had a great time. Make sure you see these guys when they are in your area and check out their music.
