Fitz & the Tantrums and Young the Giant

Fitz and the Tantrums

You know you are in for a treat when the show headlines Fitz & the Tantrums and Young the Giant. It is a beautiful July summer Day and we are here at the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheater. The staff was super helpful and friendly like always and the atmosphere was perfect for a fun filled evening of music.

The show started with the American Indie pop band Coin, which was formed in 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee. The current band members are Chase Lawrence – synth/vocals, Joe Memmel – guitar/vocals and Ryan Winnen – drums. It didn’t take Coin long before you could feel an exciting energy building within the crowd. It was easy to get lost in their music and just enjoy the moment. Yes! Everyone was super hyped and they were all dancing and jumping along to Coin’s infectious groove. The highlight to their performance was that they introduced their brand new song, “Crash My Car”. It was the perfect start for the evening and if you get the chance, please check these guys out. I can guarantee you will fall in love with them.

Fitz and the Tantrums

Now that everybody was warmed up, it was time for Fitz & the Tantrums to make their appearance. This is actually the second time I got to see them and I was super excited because I absolutely love them. Their style of music just grabs you and pulls you in. It is upbeat, energetic fun and gets your heart pumping. The band is an American Indie pop and soul band from LA, which was formed in 2008. The members are Michael Fitzpatrick – lead vocals, Noelle Scaggs ( co-lead vocals and percussion), James King – Saxophone, flute, keyboard, percussion and guitar), John Wicks – drums and percussion, Jeremy Ruzumma – Keyboard, Joseph Karnes – bass. Throughout their performance Fitz & the Tantrums played one of their new songs, “123456”. The single “123456” from their upcoming fourth studio album was released in March of this Year but this is not the only one the band has released. They also had a second single “Don’t Ever Let

Young the Giant

Em” released on April 17th, followed by “I Need Help” on May 3rd. “I Need Help” was another one of the songs at tonight’s show. Before Michael started performing this song he talked about needing help and how he had to learn to ask for help himself this Year. This got a lot of people thinking on how we all try to do things on our own and a lot of times we are too proud to ask. This song came right from the heart and it was performed beautifully.  The last new song I want to talk about for today is “All The Feels”. Wow!!!  The song just came out June 28th and will also be the name of his 4th new album which is going to be released September 20th of this Year.  “All The Feels” is a great song and I didn’t expect any less. The show was a full success according to the reaction from the audience and I also once again enjoyed every second of it. I am looking forward to seeing them again on another tour. It doesn’t matter how many times you attend their concert, they are so much fun that it just keeps on getting better. If you can go and see Fitz & the Tantrums when they are in your area and watch them in concert and also go and get their new album. They are just amazing!!!
